This blog updates at least weekly on any of the days below with the topics as follows:
On a Monday-Maniac Mondays = All Things that are All Things! Generally thoughts, ideas or tools we think can be useful to the personal or professional life.
On a Thursday-Tumultuous Thursdays = All Things Metaphysical
On a Friday-Funtastic Fridays = All Things Fun! (cartoons, stories about the Purple Elephant and the Little mouse...)
Studious Saturdays = All Things about the craft of fiction writing. Also we will give you little snippets about how our fantasy fiction novel in progress is going. Sometimes this can be told as a cartoon. We will be doing nanowrimo this year as well.

Also our Advent calendar will be happening this year as usual! Look for an interesting and new format!

Tumultuous Thursdays:The Lunar Effect! Not All Bad?

The moon...the moon! So many poets have written about you, so many scientists have studied you...romantics...astrologers...werewolves...so what can we possibly write afresh!:)

But you are so magnetic and upon you at your fullest for the last two months we've pondered. Aaah yes the full moon!:)

Now many call the effect the full moon has the 'Lunar Effect'. And much has been written about this but most of it bad...We guess hence the words 'lunatic' and 'lunacy' and anyway most people consider the concept of the 'Lunar Effect' to be pseudoscience but here today on Tumultuous Thursdays we want to look at the full moon in a positive light!:) We guess the romantics have already done that...but really to us all this talk about the full moon isn't it just simply wonderful so much so beyond words?! :)

Aaah...! We don't know what it is maybe it is purely romantic and not grounded in any science or pseudoscience or metaphysics at all...but whatever the sceptics may say when we view the full moon we are simply in awe! We can't take our eyes off it whether we're on one of our evening walks (not a moonwalk) or whether we've moved to photograph it! It's just full moon full moon full moon...can't take our eyes off of you!:)

Now the moon is one of many moons in the Universe and Galaxy blah blah so what we call the moon is Earth's moon or perhaps we can call it the other way and say we are the Moon's earth!:) But the point is one orbits one and according to scientists the moon is not a planet. However under Tumultuous Thursdays thoughts...now let's consider the moon not in a pseudo scientific or metaphysical way but in the way all those straight suit NASA types see it as extracted from this site where you can visit for more details:

"The Moon is the only natural satellite of Earth:

orbit: 384,400 km from Earth
diameter: 3476 km
mass: 7.35e22 kg

Hardcopy

The New Solar System
Summarizes what we've learned from interplanetary explorations in the last 25 years. My primary reference for The Nine Planets.

Full Moon
Very high quality reproductions of Apollo images of the Moon. If you think the Moon is boring ("been there, done that") then you haven't seen this book!

The Once and Future Moon
An overview of what we know about our Moon, how we came to know it and how we might go back to learn more.

Called Luna by the Romans, Selene and Artemis by the Greeks, and many other names in other mythologies.

The Moon, of course, has been known since prehistoric times. It is the second brightest object in the sky after the Sun. As the Moon orbits around the Earth once per month, the angle between the Earth, the Moon and the Sun changes; we see this as the cycle of the Moon's phases. The time between successive new moons is 29.5 days (709 hours), slightly different from the Moon's orbital period (measured against the stars) since the Earth moves a significant distance in its orbit around the Sun in that time.

Due to its size and composition, the Moon is sometimes classified as a terrestrial "planet" along with Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars."

I dunno but in closing we here at Meady's Musings will have to say we agree with the romantics about the status of the full moon and no one else so we leave you with a poem ...by none other than the supreme lunatic of love himself...RUMI!:)

"May this marriage be blessed.
May this marriage be as sweet as milk and honey.
May this marriage be as intoxicating as old wine.
May this marriage be fruitful like a date tree.
May this marriage be full of laughter and everyday a paradise.
May this marriage be a seal of compassion for here and hereafter.
May this marriage be as welcome as the full moon in the night sky.
Listen lovers, now you go on, as I become silent and kiss this blessed night."
